Annual Women’s Silent Retreat, April 16 – 18, Mount St. Francis Retreat Center, Colorado Springs.
Sponsored by St. Michael the Archangel in Colorado Springs. The Retreat Director will be Julia B. Wilmot, D. Min. Julie has lead many retreats, been a guest preacher, an interim pastor and chaplain in a retirement village. She has received awards of excellence in preaching and individual and community spiritual direction. Her focus for the weekend will be: Sabbath, Theotokos and Holy Sophia: Lost Images for the Woman of God. We will be invited to rest in the Spirit of God's most Holy Sabbath, explore our role as bearers of the image of God, the very thumbprint of the Divine and celebrate the blessed wisdom into which we have been immersed. Arrive on Friday and allow the healing presence of Divine Silence to nurture us through the weekend so that we may return to the work of our hands refreshed and renewed to begin a new era of our lives. Quest 2K10 - Be the Change, April 16 - 18, Frontier Ranch, Buena Vista.
Quest is a youth weekend for the teens, grades 6 - 12, in youth groups. It is geared to those who wish to grow deeper in their faith journey with God. It includes plenty of worship, small group time, seminars, ministry experiences and plain old fun! St. Mary’s in Boulder is providing a 9Health Fair on Saturday, April 17 from 7 am to noon. This fair offers many free and low-cost medical screenings to the general public, especially important in these tough economic times. Continuing Education for Spiritual Directors: Spiritual Direction and the Aging Process - with Macrina Scott Wednesday, May 19, 4-6:15p.m. St. John's Cathedral
People who come for spiritual guidance have received from our culture a gloomy picture of aging. The spiritual director has the opportunity to model and communicate a different vision. Aging is a call to adventure, a time for new kinds of spiritual growth, and roles as elder in family, church, and society. we will reflect on the vision of Rabbi Zlman Schachter-Shalomi and share our own expereinces of companioning persons through the journey into elderhood. Macrina Scott, OSF, is a Franciscan sister, former director of a program of adult biblical education for the archdiocese of Denver, author, and retreat director. She has been trained by Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi's Spiritual Eldering Institute programs on spiritual growth in the later years. She directs the Wisdom Center, which offers a year long program as well as shorter events for individuals of all faith traditions who choose to age consciously. Cost: $15 - $35, as you are able.
